The NASWA Resorts Rafts, Rocks, Rolls and ROARS into Summer!

07/06/2009

We were just warming up…

The Memorial Day Weekend got things off to a good start at the NASWA! The intermittent spring rains didn’t deter the NAZ’ regular guests who came out in their rain gear, ready to celebrate the start of summer while others dusted off their bikes, boats and cars for the long holiday weekend! With its new menu at the Restaurant at the NASWA and the NAZbar Beach Bar & Grill, there was something for everyone in food, drink and entertainment for the kickoff of the 2009 season! LET THE SUMMER BEGIN!

Dock and Dine—Rain or Shine!

The Second Annual New Hampshire Marine Trades Association Boat Show was such a rousing success that the event was held over for the weekend of June 6 and 7. “Boaters are eager to get out on the water again—it’s been a long winter!” said Kevin Keenan of Paugus Bay Marina. The turnout was considered exceptional according to Cynthia Makris, NASWA GM, “The NASWA looked like a mini-Miami Boat Show!” she laughed, happy to see returning guests and new ones on the docks at the Beach Bar. The NAZBar Beach Bar will have more good times flowing with the Hot Damn! Band on Saturday, June 6 from 3-7 PM and Joe McDonald 2-6 PM on Sunday, June 7.

So put on your deck shoes, come down to the NAZ and leave them on the dock! There will be plenty of brands, styles and sizes of boats to see—you might just want to cruise into the sunset!...

The 28th Annual Winni Derby was another successful event with the NASWA docks packed with ready to reel fishermen! A record 1,924 participated! If you want dock space for next year, you’d better reserve NOW! Don’t be “docked out!” Let us know about any outstanding catches made from the nearby NASWA waters—or if you’d like to have your fish cooked for you in the Restaurant at the NASWA—please make arrangements immediately after your catch! At peak season, we may be very busy, but we’ll do our best to accommodate you and your fishing buddies and guests!

Get Your Motor Running…Head out on the Highway—or LAKE!

You know it’s that time of year again when the revving motorcycle engines get your nerves tingling and your clutch hand twitching! It’s the 86th Laconia Motorcycle Week and the NASWA Resort will again be party-central, action-packed, day and night!

Motorcycle Week kicks off with the 3rd Annual Peter Makris Memorial Run—a special rally for our special guardian angel, Peter Makris who now joins us in spirit as we ride in his honor to benefit one of his favorite community causes--one he helped spearhead--the Laconia Fire Department Life Saving Fund & Water Rescue Teams. This fund, started to help the family of fireman, Mike Miller, who lost his life trying to save others, has provided privately-funded equipment and training for the first responders who are there for the whole Laconia community—residents, tourists and local travelers who enjoy the grandest lake in New England.

Come and join us by land or by sea! Boats run around the Lake, Wolfboro and Alton Bay, while bikes ride with a police and fire escort from the NASWA through Meredith, Center Harbor, Wolfboro and Alton Bay. The stellar breakfast and lunch from the Fusion Sales Group are worth the price of admission ($35 early registration, $40 day of) so make sure to register NOW! www.naswa.com, or call 603-366-4341. VIP registration is available at $50—lead the pack and enjoy priority docking and parking!

Live entertainment with the Bruce Marshall Group from 1:30– 5:30 PM and Dan Lawson from 6 PM-close is only part of the fun! A Silent Auction, raffles, drink promos and a great bike and boat show all afternoon and into the night will keep the party going strong!

YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS EVENT! We tripled in size last year, so sign up NOW!

Bruce Marshall is making a special appearance with his band at Motorcycle Week this year, so he’ll also be in the NASWA Lounge, upstairs on Friday night—solo. It will be a nice treat for our restaurant and lounge guests to enjoy his guitar and ballads, then rock with him and his band out at the Beach Bar on Saturday!

Dan Lawson’s classic rock will keep everything jamming on Sunday afternoon as well, with Lone Wolf playing both the Lounge on Saturday night and the Beach Bar on Sunday night. Doug Mitchell, the Bob Pratte Duo, Bad Kharma and Three Way, round-out the entertainment for the rest of our bike rally—and don’t forget to pick up your new collector edition of the NASWA Resort’s annual Motorcycle Rally T-shirts—they also make great souvenirs for friends…”Sorry you couldn’t be here, but we got you the T-shirt!”

Pray for good weather and a safe week for all!

NASCAR at THE NASWA!

But June still has plenty of horsepower! NASCAR comes to Laconia June25-28 and the NASWA Resort is waiting for your reservation! Whether you are watching from our Beach Bar new big screen TV’s or attending the race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, you’ll want to be sure to be front-row and close to the finish line!

Racing is a tradition at the NAZ and you might even get a glimpse of your favorite driver passing through…

June starts Hurricane season in Florida—be glad you are up in beautiful New England, enjoying the start of summer on one of the most spectacluarlakes in this country—it’s why we love to call it home, and love to have you here!
LET’S GET THIS SUMMER STARTED!
