A Lake Winnipesaukee Summer Vacation Packing List

There’s something magical about packing for a trip to Lake Winnipesaukee. Imagining the scent of pine in the air and the sun sparkling off the water combined with the anticipation of lazy beach days, lively lakeside dinners, and serene sunsets—it’s a ritual I look forward to every year. This summer, I’m headed back to The NASWA Resort, a place that has become my go-to New Hampshire retreat for all things relaxation and adventure. If you’re planning your trip and wondering what to bring, I’ve put together the ultimate summer vacation packing list to make the most of your getaway.

A Packing List for YOUR Summer Vacation

Before you start tossing things into your suitcase, take a moment to think about the kind of memories you want to make at The NASWA Resort. Are you envisioning lazy beach days with your toes in the sand? Maybe you’re dreaming of paddleboarding across the shimmering waters of Lake Winnipesaukee or enjoying a peaceful sunset by the shore. Whatever your plans, having the right items on your packing list will help you make the most of every moment during your summer vacation.

Swimwear and Beach Towels

First things first: swimwear is non-negotiable when you’re spending your days lounging on The NASWA’s private sandy beach. Whether floating on the water or sunbathing with a good book, you’ll want at least a few options. Don’t forget a colorful beach towel, too—it doubles as your lakeside throne for claiming the best spot by the shore. Trust me, there’s nothing quite like stepping into the cool, clear waters of Lake Winnipesaukee on a hot summer day.

Water Shoes

Let’s be real: lake life involves exploring—wading through rocky shores, kayaking, or even paddleboarding. That’s where water shoes come in handy. They protect your feet while keeping you comfortable for hours of outdoor fun. At The NASWA, you can rent a cottage steps away from the lake, making it even easier to enjoy all the resort has to offer. Having water shoes handy makes transitioning from cottage to kayak smooth and stress-free.

Sunscreen and Sunglasses

The lake isn’t the only thing that shines at The NASWA—so does the summer sun! Pack a solid sunscreen and your favorite pair of sunglasses to protect yourself while enjoying the outdoors. From paddling around on a water float to sipping a drink at The NazBar & Grill, you’ll be grateful you didn’t leave these essentials behind. No one wants their vacation memories clouded by sunburn, like when my friend Sally fell asleep on the beach!

Outdoor Gear

For the adventurous souls, outdoor gear is a must. Toss in some hiking shoes for trails around the New Hampshire Lakes Region, but don’t forget to pack a water float for those lazy afternoons drifting on the lake. There’s nothing like spending the day anchored in the shallows, letting the gentle waves rock you into pure bliss. If you’re a planner like me, you’ll also throw in a picnic blanket for impromptu lunches by the water.

Camera or Smartphone (and a Waterproof Pouch)

With all this natural beauty, you’ll want to capture every moment. You can make a memento of the sun rising over the lake and the playful vibes of your group at the beach or take a few selfies to post on socials. Bonus points if you bring a waterproof pouch—it’s a lifesaver when you’re out on the water or snapping shots from your float. These little things ensure you’re ready for every Instagram-worthy moment, no matter the activity.

Lake Winnipesaukee Summer Cottage Rentals and More

Packing for a trip to The NASWA Resort is more than just a chore; it’s a chance to dream about the good times ahead. Your summer vacation packing list isn’t just about what you’ll bring—it’s about setting the tone for your getaway. So, gather your essentials, plan for fun on Lake Winnipesaukee, and get ready for an unforgettable trip. And if you’re still missing something, don’t worry—The NASWA has everything you need to turn your vacation into a story worth telling.
