With its unique granite rock formations, sprawling wilderness, and meandering rivers, the New Hampshire Lakes Region is a gorgeous place for adventure. Needless to say, this rugged yet beautiful landscape creates an inviting setting to enjoy nature’s finest offerings. However, many travelers may not realize that along with the various lakes, several waterfalls are undoubtedly worth a visit. Thankfully, The NASWA Resort is ideally situated in the heart of the Lakes Region, giving you easy access to some of New Hampshire’s most captivating waterfalls.

New Hampshire Waterfalls: Natural Wonders in the Lake Region

As one of New England’s most picturesque vacation destinations, the New Hampshire Lakes Region is an inviting place where families seek extraordinary experiences and heartfelt memories. We’re proud of everything the Granite State has to offer, and we always encourage our guests to get out and do some exploring. Much like the mountains and lakes surrounding our longstanding family resort, the nearby waterfalls present an immersive opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors while reconnecting with loved ones. To lend a hand, we put together a quick guide to some of the best falls, cascades, and rapids within reasonable driving distance from The NASWA.

Rainbow Falls | Plymouth, NH

Located near Plymouth and amid the Walter-Newton Natural Area, Rainbow Falls is a 20-foot New Hampshire fed by the Glove Hollow Brook. The 1.5-mile trail leading to Rainbow Falls isn’t very challenging, and the scenery is rife with lush trees and vegetation. There are two benches offering excellent views and an opportunity to rest while taking photographs.

Sabbaday Falls | Waterville Valley, NH

Boasting three separate sections, Sabbaday Falls brings visitors along a short hike to witness its crystal clear beauty. The primary gorge was carved over 10,000 years ago by receding glaciers. A five-foot-high punchbowl is the foremost showcase of this New Hampshire waterfall.

Arethusa Falls | Livermore, NH

Nestled within the mountainous forests of Crawford Notch State Park, Arethusa Falls seemingly plummets from the sky. Although the trail leading to this craggy New Hampshire waterfall can be strenuous, it rewards challengers with arguably one of the best cascades in the state. Bemis Brook feeds Arethusa Falls, creating a few swimmable pools.
